The Tomb (Maqam) of Sidna Ali dates to the Mamluk period (13th century CE). It is located within an Israeli Jewish neighborhood in Herzliyya, which was a former Palestinian village called Al-Haram. Muslims today still travel from nearby towns to pray in the mosque.

Professor Galor and Reem wore shawls out of respect for the Holy site.
The mosque was designed by the architect Mahamid Jamal. Though renovated in 1992,
the additions were not true to the grandeur of the original mosque.
The mosque still operates to this day, although it is not kept in the best of conditions.
